Pay Equity: A Steep Cliff Exposed

Explaining Pay Equity

People support themselves and their families by doing things for other people and getting paid for it. They have fun, too.
But men get paid more than women do. There are exceptions, but this happens so often it’s a problem. It means girls will have a harder time than boys will when they’re older.
“Pay equity” is what we call being fair about paying you.
We hope to have pay equity some day.
Some of us will do more than hope.
Some of us will ask for it, demand it, and explain why it’s good for everyone to be fair.
Some of us will be very annoying till we get fairness.
        Then we’ll get pay equity.
        Then, maybe, others will, too.

Other pages on this website have details. They’re complicated. You’re welcome to explore them.
People 14 or 15 years old and older are in the study. No names are given of anyone in the study, so you can’t look anyone up. But you can see groups of people, and who gets paid more.
These are people in the United States. People in other countries may have other experiences, so their answers will be different.
Are allowances bigger for boys? That’s a good question. That means I don’t know the answer. Maybe you can find out.
How do people spend their money? I didn’t study that.
